Samparkiya (Odiya)

I was thinking of writing something in odiya for long long time. But never be able to do that as not much of software, or user friendly font available. If there difficult to edit as i never use them in day-today life. But while sitting in the empty office (pre-Christmass) thought lets write something on my own language, which was (is) part of my life. I know there are lots of grammatical mistake, better if you ignore them while reading.

Thank You.

Incredible India !!! Probably in relative term

More or the less every individual might have heard these promotion about India, yes "Incredible India". When you see it you feel good about it, even i am. Since my childhood days i learnt to praise my country, i was told to love every aspect of it, and i was doing it religiously, and i am doing it even now. But as i grow i see people, i travel across the state, sometime across the country. When i did its always a comparison that flashed in my backend brain. When i was there US, i saw people excited about the country, the places, the people, road even cars. We sometime don't mind to take a snap in front of a Hummer parked somewhere in a desolate place, and put it on a networking site. But when i see all of these the basic question that comes to my mind is can't the same thing be implemented in India. So these continuous feasibility study goes on and on. I never charmed by the beauty of the foreign country but constant Why and why not puts me in a fix whether to be proud of it or not.

We take pride of inventing Zero, take pride of good at mathematics, land of algebra but when all these happened. Its roughly 300BC. Aryabhatta contributed a lot to mathematics, trigonometry, pi value at 400 BC. India has the biggest and hopefully first university recorded in the history probably 500n BC(Nalanda) before it got ruined by Bakhtiyar Khilji to establish Islam. We have Ayurveda (Indian form of medicine and surgery) probably thousands years back. So whatever we did we did almost hundred generation back. When i just peep back i see nothing
i don't mean ZERO though. Tell me something that i should be proud of in last fifty years. Someone might argue in terms of road, infrastructure, heath care, GDP. Agree. But in relative term we are far behind. Singapore became an independent country in 1965, 18 years after India got independent. Each year china is adding equivalent amount of power generation that India has in total. I am not doing a detail research just to give an idea, if you look with in we look good. We are proud of unity among diversity, we feel good about so many colleges around, we feel good
about our largest military troop, we are good about so many things when we don't compare. That's why it's Incredible. The moment you peep out of window and see all around we tend to loose the confidence. That's why Einstein told nothing is absolute. In this relative universe i don't find much reason to celebrate "Incredible India".

I wish my India where the Kids can go to Govt schools without the fear of the quality of education which might justify "Right to education" in true sense, i want my country where we can have our indigenous fighter plane, no one will die on road without medical attendance, judicial system should be strong enough to screw a powerful person, no one should die out of hunger, country can able to accommodate dozens of "CWG" or even Olympics without preparation, i want a national football team that represent country in football world cup, i want where there is no corruption at all, i want a country where politician fight for country not for mere politics. I know i am day dreaming.

I really never thought i will put Mr. Salman khan's note in my blog. but it was so thoughtful lines worth being mentioned on India

“What’s India? Nation where Pizza reaches home faster than an Ambulance & Police, where you get Car Loan @ 5 percent but Education Loan @ 12 percent, where Rice is Rs 40 but Sim card is free, where people worship Goddess Durga but want to kill their girl child?,” Further he added “Olympic shooter wins gold, Govt gives 3 crores. Another shooter dies fighting with terrorist, Govt pays 1 lakh. Really, Incredible India!”

In spite of all i am still optimistic about my country. Wonder where it is coming from. oh it's independence day, that's why. Happy Independence day to all of you in a thought it is going to change sooner.

Cheers

Friends

Lets not define the term "friendship". It bears its own definition depending on the individual and the context. But one thing for sure, irrespecitve of the individual opinion everybody will agree to the point its Sweet. It gives more than it demand. This relation is not a blood relation yet more than that. I sometime wonder about the person who invented the term 'Friends', i mean define the relationship in a sweet word. Why at all we have friends or we make it? If i think again and again on it i feel this might be the reason "as we are spending lot of our time outside be it school, work or anything for that matter, we meet more with non-family member on day-to-day basis for a substantial amount of time". It is such a relation you dont need a cerificate, dont need to solemnise as friends yet it happens.

They say if u have one real friend in your life assume it as a accomplished life. I don't know how to differentiate between a normal friend, true friend, real friend. But i know they are there when i need them, they are there when i want to laugh with them and they are there when i am at my lowest point as well. They dont say it. There silence does the speaking. So lets drop the adjective before it, it's just FRIEND. I have few of them, definitely more than one, and in true sense i can say its a pleasing experience. Even though Chanakya says there is no friendship without self interest, its absolutely fine for friends. They don't mind being used and vice versa.

I thought i could write so many things here, but when i think about them i travel back to the past, recollecting the wonderful time i have spent with them, and my finger stops moving on the keyboard. Few lines almost took a week but even then i hardly written anything about them. So lets not write any specific name or event those were engraved in bold in the brain cell, just thanking them to be part of my life, making it a complete one. I wish i could tell each of them what i feel about them, how much i love them. Words and distance both are playing the spoil sports.

But one secret, i enjoyed writing this article a lot as dont remember how many times i went to flashback. This one helped me in blowing the dust layer over certain incidents those i have almost forgotten.

Love you all.
Happy Belated F'ship day.

I will get into AMWAY if they will sell Surf or Colgate

It's an evening. I was just parking my bike at the basement after a long workout. Completely tired. I got a call. Though i can't remember the exact words he told me but it goes something like this.

Hi I am "Ahole" and i am a IIM grad and working for some XYZ company. And i have a business proposal for you. We are basically deal with e-commerce "and some technical words, trust me you cant guess he is talking about selling shampoo sachet". Is it OK We will meet up?

I said, "Sure"
Ahole said "Anywhere sud be fine. Do you want me to come?"
I Said "OK" and hung up.

I took the lift and had few glass of water, taken off the jacket. Took sometime to chill off. Then i suddenly realized the so called IIM guy is talking about networking business and it has to be Amway. My reply to him was "If your proposal is anyway related to Amway, don't call me as i am a bad candidate". Thankfully i never got disturbed by him again.

Its not a fictitious story. It happens to me couple of times in different way. Always an unknown will try to talk on a random topic, will try to be friendly and then try to make you to come to some sort of conference. So all these are little hints. It refers to the Networking business (Though it is called Multi Layer Marketing MLM Lets call it Emotional Atyachar Business EAB, will explain it why i name it so). I sometime find people standing at the entrance of Big Bazar or crowded place will try to spot people talking there language, will strike a conversation. If you watch intently you can sense something different as in first talk why someone will be so friendly. Fishy right? What to do, they are motivated soul to make few customer before they go to bed. They are trained. I feel again sorry about them who are pros like doc and engineer rather spending time in there own field they get into selling toothpaste, to be called as self-motivated-entrepreneur.

The idea is great:
EAB concept is great. There point is good as they always say we avoid the promotion part, we avoid the channel of distributor, wholesaler, retailer and reach to customer directly hence saving the cost. But why don't they apply the same thing on Surf? Go to Unilever and buy Surf on Bulk and sell it on your channel 20-25Rs less than the MRP. They don't and they can't. They will sell the product so called imported product, boasting there quality as unique in nature and make you cough 4-5X times more than what it worth to nurture there channel. Lets look at the following.

Claim Vs Reality 1

Normal Channel:
Producer -> Distributor -> wholesale agent -> Retailer -> Consumer

They claim they skip, but what they put is
Quixtar -> Platinum ->Gold -> Silver -> (Some other metal no idea) -> You

Everyone know if you are buying something all of them who are in the chain above you get comission. So what difference does they make?

Claim Vs Reality 2

Lets do another. I am nor a member nor a consumer. But i have seen hundreds of them. Now the question is as a consumer only (those are not member) have ever come to you to buy the product on there own? They praise it? All the boasting the seller does, just to avoid the sellers (most of the time a known person to you friend or relative) constant botheration you buy. You know that part of it goes to him, but still you do, praying to the god not to see them again.

So its the relationshipp that makes a sale not the product.

Claim Vs Reality 3

Someone will scold me if he is from EAB. He might come with a argument that this fellow is not using the product how come he knows that our product are not upto mark. Lets do the reality check. I am into bodybuiling for last few years. I have idea on supplements and moreover the protin supplements. So i thought lets see what Amway has to offer in this. Went to there site found

Protin cost 2.5X times than of EAS. So which one is cheap? I dont trust what quixtar make but i trust abbott who is into medicine since 1888, yeas since 122 years.

The Trap:

In my few encounter, once XYZ met me in my office in bangalore. In the canteen he caught me. while discussing he pull off a paper and draw X-Y axis in it. In the four qurdant he explained human can be classified in this four category. One normal who works. 2nd who dreams. Third and fourth something something. Now he was telling me to do something different in life apart from job. Which is fine so far. But when he diverted that i should get into networking business i started opposing. I asked just tell me a person name who is famous in Amway business that i know of. Magazine write about them. They influence economy. You might say few names which i am not aware of. I put Gopinath, Ambani in that qurdant where they create there own emporor, not in that segment where i sell bloddy expensive toothpaste which comission i will keep along with dozen. Sorry.

So that trap is EAB guys will tell you beutiful things about life, how should you conqur, how to talk to people and all. How to increase the self confidence. They arrange seminar, distribute CD which will inspire you. Everything is fine as they are. When they say it with an objective and agenda of selling toothpaste they loose the charm and they have trapped hundreds. Those hundreds will try to trap another hundred, most escapes few buy there unknown products in the thought not to see the family salesman again, whose toothpaste might have removed few items on his monthly groceries. I dont mind getting into Amway if they start selling surf or colgate few rupees less than MRP. They dont and they cant.
Cheers

My top 10 favorite videos on YouTube

I am a huge fan of YouTube and i am sure there are millions with me. Sometime when i want to search, i avoid Google and go to YouTube in a thought "Should i be lucky" to have a visual representation of my search. Anyway after spending so much of time i though why not put my TOP 10 in my blog. Out of top 10, two videos are Youtube top list as well. But remaining things are my own liking for different reason. So no more write up just jump in.

1. Russell Peter, a stand up comedian of indian origin makes fun of people of different countries. You can search his videos on you tube but here i have two Shortlisted. Though didn't find the single video that covers all his.

2. Susane Boyle: This is a live example of "Don't judge on the basis of appearance". You never know the person before you might be with some exceptional quality.

You have to click here as this video is NOT enabled to embed. Have to watch on YouTube.

3. Innocence can create comedy. This is a YouTube top viewed list as well. David after the dentist.

4. TED talk by Devidutta Pattnaik. East vs West. I dont know how many times i watched this video, but each time i listen to him i discovered something new. Trust me i love this talk. Hope you enjoy this as well.

5. I Love this series. Orange poking with each fruit or veggie in each episode. I was wondering what will happen when all the fruits are gone. But to my disbelief they are targeting PACMAN, mario and Iphone. You can search youtube on related video. These gauys trust me are good at this.

6. Magician and Harmonica player. You will wonder after listening to his music, whether this can really be done on that? Its a Arabian music with harmonica.

7. Can you believe this? The wildest animal has a human side.

If you want to findout more about the whole story click here

8. Even though it is the exaggeration of the brand consciousness, but you love the video as such. Even though it's not a technical comparison between Iphone and HTC, but a nice one. Few slanga were there in this vid so careful while watching in office.

9. I am sure this one will take you to the 80's. When there is no other channel except Doordarshan. SO all the adults (>25 years) have grown with these ads for sure. So lets have a 9 minutes journey to past.

10. This is the life history of one of the genius. Yes Kishore Kumar. He was in bollywood as an actor but known for his songs for ever. Its a documentary in 14 episode. So please hook to youtube and watch all the series. You will know some unknown facts.

Its difficult to choose 10 videos from millions of them but this is for now. Later we will come up with another set.

Lets have a drill, if you like the post fwd it to your friends using the e-mail link just few cm from here.

Cheers.

Baba's and there confused disciple

Let me start with a disclaimer that i am not a follower of any of the baba's (when i say Baba please read them as spiritual guru or simply a preacher) nor i am against of it since birth not related to any of the baba's org directly or indirectly. I just want to make it clear that i am a neutral observer. Here i will not defend or abuse any so called organisation or there activist.

If you stay here at least once you will be persuade by few to follow a group. In Hindu's mythology we have 330 million gods and these so called Baba's increase the count. No documentation is there but i am sure this figure will definitely shoot up by 1 more million. We used to make fun in our parlour that go to varnashi and do the crash course for a month get a certificate to be a Baba. You speak something, in a logical dressing i am sure there will be dozen to follow you. The more the crowd the more popular he is. So what about there career growth? Gather few bureaucrats, few politician. then the crowd grows. Once it reach to a level you get hefty donation. Make an ashram (don't create a picture of small hut as in Ramanand sagar's Ramayan, its equipped with all the amneties you can think of) for cozy living and preaching once or twice a day. If "word of mouth" works then he keep on growing. Next level is the preaching on TV. It keeps the disciple growing on an exponential rate and so is the donation and the respective land/accounts and all. People make the baba as GOD.

Each time i turn on the switch i am amazed to see a new face and thousand of people at other side listening as if a scantily clad woman serving beer in a bar where beer can run out at any moment. There is nothing wrong in it. They dont speak rubbish. If you listen intently and use your logical brain its practical. Its just the people wants to be told by someone and that makes them the preacher or the path finder. They can be implemented in daily life for a peaceful living. But where lies the problem, why they keep disappearing and why some or other bad incidents happening to them. Lets do a step by step analysis of the whole fiasco.

Here i am referring to the two infamous incidents. One with Asharam Bapu and the other is Swami Nithyananda. In Bapu's case its the child death (due to drowning) and Nithyananda in a compromised position with an actress. After this there is sheer chaos on around there ashram. Few people create fuss to gain the social/political advantage of this situation. same applies to Nithyananda's case. I dont blame them. I blame them who are once there own disciple and now creating havoc on a news or incidents. How can someone change its color so quickly. If i am talking nice, helping or guiding you socially or spiritually, you make me god and then next moment a "pinch of doubt" will pull the faith from GOD to a criminial?? Is this the way you treat your god? I am thankful that i dont belong to that catergoty.

One thing people don't understand that there so called god don't claim themselves as god, its you who are making them as god. And by making them god doesn't mean that there souls are eternal nor doubting or abusing makes them ephemeral either. So as a follower i might not like my guru to be lying with a girl (i dint see much of offensive stuff though) but thats not the takeaway for me. For me they are as normal man as i am. I would love to ignore the incidents and followed remaining 100 things he might told me to do or follow. Its the faith in any religion makes the god more real and practical. If you believe the stone is gonna help you, and if your faith is pure it will. Thats why we have 330 million of gods (i doubt whether we have that many compound material exists on earth). These incidents puts a disciple in a litmus test and if u flunk you dont qualify to be a disciple.

Cheers
(I am bad at preaching though)

Should you invest in ULIP ?

"Where principal gets eroded
along the time can't be
called as investment" - Me :)

This is exactly where the ULIP fits in. This article is written for the audince with little or no knowledge about the staock market and different mode of investment, and for them who are planning to do some investment for sake of saving tax or without it. I am damn confident that atleaset 8 out of 10 who have invested in ULIP (Unit linked insurance Plan) hardly knows how it function and what so bad about it.

It's like Mutual fund+Insurance in a single go. Since it falls in two category i.e. mutual Fund under SEBI reguration and Insurance under IRDA, so no one really bother to take care of this ULIP as a whole. And there is a reason of telling **ULIP are bad** and why it is bad?

Ok Assume Mr X is on a ULIP where he pays a premium of 20K per year. So if that ULIP has a Unit calue of 10 he will get 2000 units. As on when stock market goes up the unit value also increase. So if lets say the NAV is in proportion with sensesx. So if sensex goes up by 20% in 6 months so is NAV from 10 to 12 and your current asset should be 2000 X 12 = 24000 INR. But in reality it is not. The NAV will shoot up but not your asset.

1)Fund allocation: They use a funny word as fund allocation. if the ULIP says fund allocation is 60% that means the guy who just convinced you to take the policy will eatup 40% of your premium.

That means you invested =20000
Commision of the agent (40%) =8000

Net money that are invested is =12000

2) Account maintenance: Another jargon. They are maintaing a account for you and doing an investment. Its not free. Since they keep your money its there right to deduct to MAINTAIN the account. In simple terms to feed the executive, office maintenace and all. It can vary, no documentaioni found. In the tune of 3-10%.

So Now each quarter they will deduct lets say 5%, so annual 20% which translates to 2400, so after this

Net money invested is = 9600

3) Term Rider: its logical. They are doing insurance for you as well. So that premium is also going to be deducted from the premium. Again depends on what is teh sum you have insured. Assume 500 per year.

Net money invested is = 9100

This is the money that goes for investment. So the day you pay the premium you make sure you loose more than 50% irrespective of the market. So if the sensex goes from 9000 to 18000 under a hypothetical case, and propotionately the net investment goes to 18200 but cant be able to touch your principal. Now you decide is this a worth investing. And can you believe the amount of money they are managing in India 15000 crore.

Let me be silent about dozen other hidden rules when u want to pre-close the account. You are gone.

Note: Finally last month SEBI has banned 14 organisation to stop ULIP with immedia effect

Cheers

Why you shold not join IBM India?

I know the moment you are reading the title, if you are an employee you will be nodding your head, and if you are planning to join it will be a eye opener for you. I have stayed in this company for nearly 40 months and thats a good amount of time to give a feedback if not neutral. If i will start writing i know i need a series to finish this off, but let me brief for today and will explain in detail. Thank god i am not in there anymore but still it hunt me in my dream.

Ok lets do the de-section of my experience starting from my interview to my exit (i never felt the elation of leaving a company as i had) which should normally be little awkward and emotional
considering the fact you wont get to come to the campus, meet your old friends and all that. Ok its hopefully Sep 2006 i had this interview. The manager, remember HR don't negotiate in IBM, its the manager. He told me several benifits of joining IBM which can be "trade off" of joining less than what i was getting earlier. lets mention it in bullet points

During Joining - Aug 2006
a) IBM provides unlimited training without any commitment or contract.
b) There is a concept of Unlimited Sick leave, can take as much as you can in certain health ground.
c) You can change the projects if not fitting to your profile or interest.
d) IBM will pay a Fixed+Variable>Current salary, though i asked him to put the variable part into the fixed part and he said the system doesn't allow us to do that. (IBM fixed sal was less than my that time current fixed salary)

During Exit - Jan 2010
a) IBM stopped free training. On need basis.
b) I don't know how many will fall into this category.
c) You need to complete 18 months in a project for you to legally eligible to switch to other project. Even after completion the source PM and destination PM should agree to make this movement possible. Might screw your appraisal (They call it as PBC) if you have shown ur caliber and source PM is not interested in leaving you.
d)My fixed remain fixed for 3 full term PBC and one partial PBC. 2 years i was told "I was getting more than the market standard". For someone who joined less than the earlier one, you can sense the desperation. The moment i heard the excuse i thought of slapping, and slap very hard (sorry there is no PM, its PeM who does the appraisal, might be a person who is no way related to you). When i show my agitation as usual the "bloody corporate lingo" comes into play. You should do this, that, to come to the limelight. I thought am i here to work for 9-5 or bloddy in a race to take the initiative.

This is the validation of what i was told and what has happened. Now come to the point why you should not join? IBM is NOT a company where you expect much of money. Yes if you are desperate for a change it could be used as a stop over or for them who cooked there resume little bit here and there for them as well. In case you have planned to join IBM and manage to squeeze IBM while joining, now rest assured after that its IBM turn. During my later days i was so restless of leaving the org. Each day i swipe in it feels like i am cheated in broad daylight. There is no one to address your issue. There is no point in shout as well. Unless you tell or spill those bad moments i am sure it would keep me hunting. Thanks to the technology that provide a nice platform to do so. OK. I know my shout can never go through there deaf ears. So during my last days was almost indifferent to whats happening around. Stopped attending the meeting, never care who says whatever. Tried to create my own rule without paying much of damn. But deep inside me the desperation was having a toll on me. Now when i look back i blame IBM for the negativism it added to my attitude. I was a free person all across, never change the company for money, nor for policy, but not with IBM where i have stayed for the longest. So all these experience comes with a price and pain, so use it judiciously.

Before i publish the series in detail two points the HR might not tell you while joining

1) when your performance is reviewed, at the end you have to accept with comments. There is no DECLINE option. His\her review is final.
2) Good for the married lady having school going kid, can settle there. I doubt whether they wish to grow, god save the asses of the pour souls working for them. Cheap Labor? Is that the reason why IBM does the "Women Drive" who are in a break in there career. To start afresh with kids going to school and can use the free time at IBM. Don't know though. Just guess.

Cheers

Give up smoking. It's Easy.

Today is no tobacco day. You tell to a smoker and ask him to refrain from smoking for 24hrs, I doubt whether 10% of them will be able to do it. No matter how determined they are. They are going to crack now or after few hours. So here I am going to explain the ways you can cure the addiction (it's not a habit). It’s easy. It’s easier than whatever you thought to be or most of the smoker dies without knowing this could be such an easy thing to QUIT. Still don’t believe me. Same applies to me a year back. But I was determined to kick this habit. I had the habit of chewing tobacco (GUTKHA, as they call it in our place). But I managed to kick this habit after 13 years of swallowing the dingy saliva. It’s almost a year not touched it. Don’t feel like touching it. If you have read so far I am sure you are little determined to quit and equally suspicious or even more. I won’t charge anything; neither will I ask you to join any course. I will provide the resource right here which you can download for free and enjoy the "Non-Smoker" status from now on. No medicine, no tobacco pills anything. Just looking the things differently.

I am not going to tell you, what are the problems that involve in smoking or Chewing GUTKHA. Every smoker are aware of it. And even they know the next cigarette is not going to kill them. So they don’t really pay a shit about the adv and display all around. But deep inside they always wanted to be a non-smoker, want to enjoy his days as a non-smoker is. And all these determination scales high when he had continuous coughing last night. So there are three aspects we will discuss about smoking.

1. Why at all we start smoking.

2. If we start then what makes us to hook to it for ever.

3. How to leave it without those withdrawal pangs such as headache and nausea. it's EASY.

Q1. The answer to this question is easy. It all start out of fun. I wont be wrong if i say close to 100%. Putting a cigarette in between the fingers and light it and pushing the smoke out of the mouth is style statement. It makes you the Mr. Unique/Mr. Tough among the peers, without a single clue that the Mr. Tough will be glued to the smoking guns forever unable to move his ass out of it.

Q2. Now there is a little monster in it. yes Nicotine. When you had the first shoot, its effect is so mild you never felt like you need to have another one. The first shot might make you cough like anything. That’s how our body is designed with. if it doesn't like it shows. But as smokers (tough guys, i mean it) they conquer it. It take Just few minutes for the nicotine to get into blood and give the so called virtual kick. Now the "kick" starts to fade away equally fast. So the brain sends a trigger to have one more. Now sometimes so happen if there is a gap you unknowingly open a cigarette pack to grab one. That because of the sub-conscious mind that ruled by the brain.

Q3. If something that is controlled by brain knowingly and unknowingly how it will be easy to quit. Teach it. You absolutely don’t need any determination to stop you to the shop. its only you need to convince yourself that you have to break the nicotine chain that you have created years ago. Once that chain is broken you are back to a non-smoker.

So let me stop telling you the bits and pieces from the Allen carr's easyway (Onlyway) to stop smoking better watch this video.

The book they are talking about in this video is right here. Download it. Keep it. Keep a pack of cigarette or few packs of Gutkha. its a 111 page book but excluding blank pages and others it will be 80 odd pages. It should not take more than 3-4 hrs to go through in detail. You complete reading and at the end of it you are a non-smoker. The good part is you are allowed to smoke while reading the book. What else someone want?

For those who are not comfortable in reading or want one to one (interactive) seminar please check the same in your locality. Almost all major city in India and around the world are covered. "Allen Carr's" organize events and do the money back guarantee. If you can’t kick the habit they will refund the money :)

What you have to do: After doing this if you are successful please give the comment and forward it to your friends, else scold me. You just need to read. You are not loosing anything by reading. If it does not click you are the same person as you were before reading.

All the tips are picked up from Allen Carr's EASYWAY to stop smoking. I have read the book and all the materials are owned by the Author of the book and respective publisher and stakeholders. I dont belong to Allen carr's organisation nor i have a motive to do a business. its purely for informational purpose.
